Hurd, who spent 25 years at ATM maker NCR Corp. before coming to HP in April 2005, became a Wall Street darling. HP's market value nearly doubled during his five years. HP's stock fell nearly 10 percent to $41.85 in after-hours trading Friday, when the news was released.

Cash-starved states are increasingly being drawn to the lure of easy money in casinos — a bet that could ultimately hurt taxpayers if the supply of slot machines, poker tables and racetracks outpaces customers' demand. Atlantic City, N.J., which for decades held a gambling monopoly outside Nevada, was already reeling from a beatdown inflicted by neighboring competitors. Now New York, which has casinos run by Indian tribes, just approved slot machines for its Aqueduct racetrack. Pennsylvania has added table games like poker and blackjack to its nine slot-machine casinos — and five new casinos are planned.

This month we present the case of the owner of a company who saw the future of his business in total jeopardy when his hard drive ceased to operate. Contracts, client information, along with hours of hard and very expensive work, were all lost at the moment we received his phone call. Once again a life or death situation for a business.A couple of days ago, we received a phone call from a very distressed client. He told us his hard drive had stopped working, however, he was in such a rush, he practically wanted us to solve his data loss issues over the phone. This client owned a recording studio, and hours of work, along with other hundreds of client files were stored on his external hard drive. The future of his company and a couple of projects he was involved in depended on our data recovery expertise.
“There was a moment I thought I had lost everything…and that didn’t only mean my information…it meant the entire future of my company. I had projects, files and information in that hard drive that literally outlined the future of my business. It was a relief to gain access to them once again.”
